Who I Am

I’m Mary Kaye Chambers — Grandma Honey to 5 sweet honeybees, former elementary teacher (32 years), and a woman who’s learned that God’s grace is bigger than my past.

I’m 58 and live on the Arkansas homestead my daddy and granddaddy cleared decades ago. I retired early at 54 after raising my 2 kids, surviving a pandemic, losing both parents, walking out of an abusive marriage years before, and realizing I had no idea who I was when nobody needed me to be anything specific.

So I started rebuilding… not from a guru mountaintop, but from the middle of the mess.

I’m not a theologian. I’m not a pastor. I’m not someone who has it all figured out.

I’m a woman in the second half of life who wants something quieter, deeper, and more beautiful than what hustle culture is selling — and I’m building it one honest choice at a time.

I don’t do guru vibes or polished perfection. I write from real life: the unexpected freedom of empty days, the quiet thrill of writing what God puts on my heart, the deep joy of saying no to what doesn’t fit this season, and the ongoing work of rebuilding everything from the ground up.

What I am is honest. I’m done with spiritual fluff. I’m done with decorative pillow wisdom. And I’m done pretending that midlife transition for Christian women is anything other than the hard, identity-reconstructing work it actually is.
