Welcome to This Sacred Season!
You’ve spent decades being who everyone needed you to be.
The good daughter. The capable wife. The present mom. The reliable friend. The woman who shows up, serves without complaint, and never asks for anything because that’s what faithful Christian women do.
And now?
Now the kids are grown, or the marriage has ended, or the career has shifted, or your parents are gone. You’re standing in the middle of your own life with a question you’ve never had time to ask:
Who am I when nobody needs me the same way anymore?
That question isn’t a crisis. It’s an invitation.
What This Sacred Season Is
This Sacred Season is for Christian women over 40 who want to build a quieter, deeper, more beautiful life in the second half.
Not more information. Not another list of things to do. A real conversation, grounded in faith, honest about the hard parts, and written for the woman who is done pretending midlife transition is anything other than the identity-reconstructing work it actually is.
Here you’ll find honest essays, modern psalms, Scripture deep dives, and writing prompts for the days when you need to find your own words. Some posts are short. Some go deep. All of them are written to tell you the truth.
What You’ll Find Here
Free subscribers receive weekly devotionals, modern psalms, field notes from the homestead, book recommendations, and the monthly Lovely Little Things roundup.
Everything here is written for the woman who is rebuilding, not from a guru mountaintop, but from the middle of the mess.
Who Am I?
I’m Mary Kaye Chambers. Former classroom teacher of 32 years. Literacy specialist. Modern psalmist. Grandma Honey to 5 sweet honeybees living on a multigenerational Arkansas homestead.
I’m 58 and live on the land my daddy and granddaddy cleared decades ago. I retired early at 54 after raising my two kids, surviving a pandemic, losing both parents, walking out of an abusive marriage years before, and realizing I had no idea who I was when nobody needed me to be anything specific.
So I started rebuilding.
I’m not a theologian. I’m not a pastor. I’m not a church elder. I’m DEFINITELY not someone who has it all figured out.
I’m simply a woman in the second half of life who wants something quieter, deeper, and more beautiful than what hustle culture is selling, and I’m building that beautiful life one honest choice at a time.
I write about faith, land, memory, and the seasons that change you. I write modern psalms because some of what we carry needs to be brought to God before it can be said to anyone else. And I write honestly, because spiritual fluff has never helped anyone actually change.
What Makes This Sacred Season Different
Most Christian content for women is either devotionals or general encouragement. This Sacred Season is something else. It’s a space for the woman who wants real faith conversation, not inspiration that evaporates by Wednesday.
I spent 32 years teaching people to find their words and to actually process what they were learning, not just receive information. That shapes everything I write here. This isn’t random content. It’s honest company for the rebuilding.
If you need someone to tell you the truth and walk with you through the hard middle, you’re in the right place.
Subscribe now and let’s build this quieter, deeper, more beautiful life together.
